I’ve been thinking a bit about the whole atheism thing… interested by the summer camp that is taking place near Bath for a chosen few (24) young people.
The Times comments here
Radio 5 had their morning debate on the old chestnut “would the world be a better place without religion”
I thought that I’d offer a few thoughts over the next few days on my perspective on atheism v faith etc. I probably won’t do the whole “creation v evolution” thing though… because I don’t think it exists.

Fished a private stretch of the Bristol Avon yesterday afternoon. What a stunning bit of river! Could have spent the day simply watching fish feeding.
Saw this one take my bait – VERY exciting.
First Bristol Avon Barbel – 8lb.
Terrible photo.
Very happy.
I’ve joined the stretch so will be down there quite a bit in the autumn!

Not my biggest, but still a cracking fish and a half decent photo.4lb 4oz.
Out on the Bristol Avon tomorrow… REALLY looking forward to it.
Also, heard of some Barbel coming out of the Lower Severn at last so a quick trip up there next week is in order!

Good ol’ Freddy.
I couldn’t listen to the test match this morning as I was in a meeting in Cheltenham (I say meeting, I really mean out for a coffee). To be honest, I genuinely dreaded listening as I thought that the Aussies would make the total. So to walk into a big shopping mall in Cheltenham and see on Sky that we’d won was a great relief.
So great that I treated myself to some DVDs from HMV.
Little Miss Sunshine – £3
Ghostbusters 2 – £3
Most impressive – The Ashes 2005 series victory. 3 DVD boxset……….. wait for it……… £3
Already watched the Edgbaston Test from 2005…. now that was real tension.
As for the coffee…. ordered a decaf for my third coffee of the morning – and got a caffeine fix. That lasted until late afternoon. To be fair, I only paid for one of them so I shouldn’t grumble.

Been out a couple of times recently for Barbel…
Done OK as well. Fished an EARLY (5am) session on the Teme at Broadwas and had a lovely Barbel that I guessed at about 5-6lb Nearly pulled my rod in though. There is something about early morning sessions that I love.
Out on the Teme again last Friday and got absolutely soaked. River rose about 18inches whilst I was there. Managed a cracking Chub – 4lb 40z and two small Barbel about 5lb each rolling spam under some far bank trees. Both came out of the same spot in the same swim.
Not caught a Barbel from the Warwickshire Avon yet but after all the rain we’ve had recently it’ll probably be a bit more worthwhile… as for the Severn – not even tried!
Will post some pictures later…

Saw this earlier in the week…
Superb film
Having read the book a while ago, I’d forgotten quite a bit of the story so there were plenty of surprises. You can feel the tension rising throughout the film as it heads towards the climatic event at the end (no spoilers!!).
All three of the main actors (Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint) are superb.
Only complaint is that the ending was changed a bit… unless they’ve got a reason that will become clear in the next installment it might prove to be a big mistake.
All in all 8/10.

That is definitely true for me…
Spent the last couple of weeks at different groups at Woodlands and met some great people. Unsurprisingly I found God amongst these great people too.
Highlights…
Football in the scorching heat on a concrete pitch. I scored more in 60mins than the last 2 years put together.
A group for those with challenging issues ranging from mental health problems to addictions.
Simply hanging around with church leaders… learning lots.
Just tomorrow left…
