Please can someone find me a moral reason (i.e. slave trade, involvement with right wing psychos) for NOT buying from IKEA. My hands are raw from using alum keys and putting shelving together. Alternatively if you’ll work for 50p an hour you can come and put it together for me.

Click on the photo or the Flickr widget on the sidebar to see the others.
Just to update those who read my blog from far off… we’ve moved house and are settling in nicely thanks to the wonderful Mrs F who is the BEST at making home. We’ve had a fab time away with my folks in Devon and are getting ready for the new term starting next week (HELP!). Have been shopping for England over the last two days for food and kitchen stuff that got trashed in the floods. I’ve also been buying too much fishing stuff and that won’t be coming out of the insurance… hmmm.

Bourne Ultimatum
Posted by chrisfox on August 24, 2007
Brilliant. Best film I’ve seen this year (I think). As the final part of a trilogy it is superb. Matt Damon is brilliant in it and you are on the edge of your seat the whole way through. The only issue I had was with the people with me who kept saying, “that would never happen in real life”. ITS A FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You need to be alert though when you watch it as the action is VERY fast. Trailer below. 9/10.

Fishing
Posted by chrisfox on August 23, 2007
Been a couple of times in the last week – had an 8lb Pike and some small fish. Got a big treble hook stuck in my finger whilst unhooking the forementioned Pike. It hurt. No photo because I forgot.

Films I’ve watched recently
Posted by chrisfox on August 23, 2007
The Shooter – action revenge film with Mark “Funky Bunch” Walberg. Lots of shooting and running and more shooting. And some explosions. Tries to make a political point about Iraq and fails miserably. A few twists towards the end keeps you interested. Not one for those who like their films too intelligent. 7/10
Poseidon. Not very good. Quite boring. Kurt Russel dies (best bit).
I watched this whilst building IKEA furniture. And it provided good background noise. I wouldn’t bother unless you’re building furniture. 4/10
Going to see the Bourne Ultimatum tomorrow. Now that looks good.

One of the best things to happen to me in 10 years (apart from getting married)
Posted by chrisfox on August 22, 2007
Today at the BEST SUPERMARKET in the world some lovely lady called Carole asked me if I had any ID to buy a bottle of wine. Both her and her colleague thought I was under 21. Marvellous!!!!!!!!
Then her guide dog barked at me (only joking)

Moving house
Posted by chrisfox on August 20, 2007
Well we have now moved into our new temporary accomodation… its perfectly fine and nice. Just got to get all the furniture sorted out (i.e. building IKEA shelves, desk, drawers) and remove boxes, find all the stuff I’ve lost and then relax. We’re without Freeview, internet and decent curtains which is a pain, so blogging will be intermittant. (To be honest, today I’ve been abusing internet at work and I can’t do this every day… well for as long as I have today anyway).
Our proper house is being gutted by builders – all the plaster from the walls is coming off, all the kitchen units, toilet, radiators, fireplace, shelving, cupboards etc is out. Then we have to wait with the dehumidifiers and fans for the place to dry out. Fun.
Feeling a bit hacked off… can you tell.
Anyway… really must do some work.

New Wine/Thirst 2007
Posted by chrisfox on August 15, 2007
Well…. what an amazing time we had this summer. Due to the floods I was only around for part of the first week (led brilliantly by Paul and Sarah) but what I saw happen there was fanastic – dozens becoming followers of Jesus etc. Nell and I arrived right at the end of the first week and got ourselves ready for the 2nd week which I was hosting with Matt from Trinity Cheltenham and Nell was running the show as admin/operations manager for Thirst.
(Info for those confused about various terms – New Wine is a Christian family conference that takes place over 2/3 weeks every summer at the Bath and West Showground. Thirst is the name for the work with 14-19 year olds. Hosting means being in charge and admin operations manager means you are the real boss.)
Anyway we had an amazing time! God really showed up in a fantastic way – lots of young people becoming Christians, some amazing healings – including one girl who had an eye that drifted towards her nose and that had a damaged pupil. She came to me during the meeting and looked at me with two perfect brown eyes looking straight ahead!!! It was great to see God working amongst the young people throughout the week.
We had two great worship bands headed up by Luke Tebb and Andy Smith which were amazing. The team worked REALLY hard (big thanks to all of you that might read this). During the week we had lots of great speakers – Paul Oxley in the mornings did a couple of our Bible teaching sessions, along with Mike Pilavachi from Soul Survivor, Kim Mason from Trinity church and Matt P (co host with me). In the evenings Matt kicked us off on our theme of “Children of a revolution”. Paul Unsworth spoke on the revolutionary nature of God’s love. Then Kiera with her first main stage talk (AMAZING) spoke about getting off the fence to follow Jesus. Debby Wright (Trent Vineyard/Venue 2) spoke on God’s heart for the poor. Rachel Gardener came to speak about revolutionising the way we handle our relationships – great stuff! David Ruis from California spoke on how we are most powerful when we are weak… finally I finished the week with a talk that encouraged the young people to catch people’s vomit in a pan and pray for those who cry through their nose. Anyway, this only touches on a few highlights of what made for a great fortnight.
Also great to have lots from my church (Holy Trinity Tewkesbury) around for the week. Hope you guys coped with the camping! More thoughts to follow in a bit on this… C

It isn’t true. It’s a basking shark. Would be fun if it was though.
