What a shame. Perhaps Skinner and Chiles will finally keep quiet about “the best team in the championship”.

HOPE 08
Posted by chrisfox on May 23, 2007

This is going to be good. You’ll hear lots about it on this blog. I’m going to be heading up Hope 08 in the beautiful Tewkesbury on behalf of all the churches. Had a great meeting today with the ministers from Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Methodist churches who are all on board. No ego, no “we’re doing our own thing”. Just a concern for getting the whole church in Tewkesbury to reach the whole town for a whole year and beyond. These leaders from all ends of the church were coming up with ideas for logos, outreach ideas, contacts and more. This is going to be good.

A rare event
Posted by chrisfox on May 19, 2007
I scored twice today. In one game. (it was 5 a side but against my friends at Trinity Cheltenham so that makes it worth blogging!)

Madeleine McCann
Posted by chrisfox on May 17, 2007
As I’ve followed the news of her kidnapping and the subsequent police investigation with hope that she is safe, I found myself thinking more deeply about the child slave trade around the world.
An estimated 1.2 million children trafficked each year. (UNICEF UK Child Trafficking Information sheet, January 2003). That’s 1.2 million children taken from their parents, families, friends and communities who rarely if ever have 2 weeks of front page news. Not that I think Madeleine and her family shouldn’t have the coverage (as it helps keep her profile higher hopefully helping her to be found) but this tragedy should open our eyes and bring it home more that children with no voice or newspaper support are kidnapped, sold, abused, and killed.
Please check out the Stop the Traffik website and engage with this issue. Keep praying for Madeleine and her family but do something to help the millions of others enslaved.

Saw this clip on a couple of blogs that I regularly read – Steve Clarke and Dave Wheatley (see links). It is really good. Watch it and think about it.

The Alibi
Posted by chrisfox on May 14, 2007
Saw this film on DVD over the weekend. Rubbish. Crap. Poor. Boring (I fell asleep in a film of less than 90 mins). Dire. Waste of Steve Coogan. Don’t watch it. 2/10.

Half Marathon
Posted by chrisfox on May 14, 2007
Well I finished. I’m still alive. I can still walk. Just.
I went off far too quickly – at the 5 mile mark people started overtaking me. In fact I didn’t overtake anyone from that point until the last mile! I needed the toilet the whole way round which was annoying. I got a blister at 6 miles. My left knee starting packing in at 11miles. I sounded like an old lady with a lung condition when I finished. However, I got round and I did 1hr 46 mins (accurate time yet to come from my “chip” and may well be nearer 1:45!!). That I was well pleased with.
Currently I have a nice painful blister on my right foot and am trying to milk all the sympathy I can. Anyway, next year I’ll be back and being sponsored so get your cheque books ready. Well done to all the Trinity folk that also ran – we all finished!

Sporting stories today
Posted by chrisfox on May 13, 2007
OK… Wolves lost (undeservedly) but bring on Weds night. Sheff Utd went down. Tevez scored against Manure (weirdly predictable). However, much more importantly it was the Tewkesbury Half Marathon. The short story (long one to come when I’ve finished my sermon prep for tonight) is that I finished in about 1:46 (which is good). The bad news is that I am sore in all sorts of places…

Questions that I am asking at the moment
Posted by chrisfox on May 9, 2007
I don’t know about you but I always have lots of questions on the go… here are my current top 3 – if you’ve got any answers I’ll buy you a latte.
1. How can I be a good neighbour down my street? How can I serve my close locality for Jesus without being religious, forced and plain weird?
2. When will series 3 of Lost come out on DVD?
3. How long until I’m as bald as my Dad and David?

game(s) of the season
Posted by chrisfox on May 8, 2007
You couldn’t have written a better script. Wolves v West Brom in the playoffs. West Midland Police cursing the results from last Sunday. This Sunday the first leg at Wolves should be interesting.
